Christine’s service to Aviation will be further recognized in October when she is inducted into the Australian Aviation Hall of Fame this October.
Her flying career started with Connellan Airways in the 1960s. She was the first Australian woman pilot to hold a 1st Class Air Transport Pilots License making her one of just 7 women commercial airline pilots in the world at the time. (1970) She was the first Western woman to become a Check Captain and first Australian woman pilot to hold a 1st Class ATPL on Helicopters.
Christine’s ground-breaking career in the then male dominated Aviation industry inspired other women pilots. Her MBE awarded for ‘Services to Civil Aviation’ recognises Christine’s impact on Aviation as does the Nancy Bird Trophy for her service to Aviation from the Australian Women Pilots' Association.
