Bob was a valued member and leader of the Central Australian Aviation Museum for many years.
When Bob Gaff arrived in Alice in 1972, he soon joined the Alice Spring Aero Club and the Gliding Club where he was a competent glider pilot and instructor, as well as a tow pilot in the Club’s Super Cub glider.
Bob was an active member of the Central Australian Aviation Museum for many years. He took on the role of President on a number of occasions including during the challenging times such as when the disassembled DC3 aircraft, which had been transported from Mildura, was reassembled and painted in the Bellman Hangar– a massive undertaking for all.
As President. Bob opened the Museum’s Rolls Royce exhibit which was installed at the Alice Springs Airport terminal. The iconic vehicle is now located in the Connellan Airways Hangar in town.
Bob, thank you on behalf of all the past and present members and volunteers for your years of service and commitment to making the Aviation Museum the success it is today.
A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at 10am on Monday 7 April, at the Alice Springs Anglican church,
Franca Frederiksen
